What city am I in?

At Super 1 today, I had a Lafayette moment right in the middle of Ruston.
I was minding my own business, bagging my groceries in my nifty reusable Super 1 bags, when the lady bagging in the lane next to me asked me where I got them. I explained that I used to live in Lafayette, and I'd found them at a store there.
"You're from Lafayette? So am I!" she exclaimed.
Then came the moment:
"Who's your mama?" she asked me.
That phrase, spoken with that lyrical South Louisiana accent, almost — for just a second — made me miss living there.
People in Lafayette ask that question all the time. It's even the title of a book.
I had to explain to her that my mama lives in Monroe, and I could tell she was a little disappointed. I guess the moment couldn't last forever.
